Ngannou Retains Heavyweight Title with Unanimous Decision over Gane

Francis Ngannou Defends Belt After Back-and-Forth Battle at UFC 270

Francis Ngannou successfully defended his UFC heavyweight championship against Ciryl Gane at UFC 270 on Saturday night. The bout went the distance, with Ngannou winning by unanimous decision after five rounds. This is Ngannou's second successful defense of the title, which he won from Stipe Miocic in March 2021.

Ngannou was able to take Gane down several times throughout the fight and control him on the ground. He also landed several hard punches and kicks that appeared to hurt Gane. Despite this, Gane was able to stay competitive and even landed some significant strikes of his own. However, Ngannou's wrestling and power ultimately proved to be too much for Gane to overcome.

With this victory, Ngannou improves his record to 17-3. This is Ngannou's 13th victory by knockout or technical knockout, and his fifth in a row. Gane drops to 10-1 with this loss, with his only defeat coming against Ngannou.

The victory is a major triumph for Ngannou, who has now solidified himself as one of the UFC's top heavyweight fighters. He is now expected to face Jon Jones in a highly anticipated unification bout later this year.
